Challenge

New way to build customer relationships

“As the focus of the connected car businesses is shifting to creating engaging user experiences through software, there is an emerging need to focus on the customer, because it’s a key source of competitive advantage,” says John Strutton, the Head of Product at Axitech.

The company set out to develop a connected application that would provide users with instant access to emergency services and roadside assistance, automatically generate accident reports, and give businesses more opportunities to improve and monetise their services.

After exploring Bamboo Apps’ expertise, Axitech decided the team was perfect for the job.

Solution

A steadfast cource of action

Bamboo Apps developed a mobile assistant that automatically detects accidents and immediately notifies the driver. To avoid confusion and loss of time in a stressful situation, the system locks the other functionality of the companion app and guides the driver through a predefined path.

The app generates crash report forms based on the type of an accident and the insurer’s claim forms. They capture all the necessary information, including photos of the damage. This allows for accurate gathering of crash data within 2-3 minutes.

After sending an accident report, the user can find and book a service center and a replacement car nearby.

Development

Building a guide you can rely on

Axitech supplied us with design mockups, which we revised and suggested new UX features for. We updated the user journey maps, and improved the navigation, hierarchy, and interactions between functional parts of the app. That way the design team ensured that the structure of the guide was clear and easy to follow.

Furthermore, Bamboo Apps made certain that all of the crash reporting and service booking functionality worked without a hitch. When building the prototype, we put emphasis on creating a seamless framework for integrating accident management functionality into existing CRM systems of automotive and insurance companies.

Result

Dependability and trust

Bamboo Apps built a prototype for a software solution that equally benefits drivers and businesses. It provides clear directions to drivers in times of need, helps with building a proper crash report, and contacting repair and towing services.

As for the businesses, the app helps them better meet the consumer demand for safety-first functionality, unlock new car data monetisation opportunities, and increase the sales of connected services.

Axitech was pleased with the solution, and enjoyed the team’s professional client-centric approach to processes and software design.

Role of UX in CDM

“Historically, the product-forward approach was dominant in automotive because seeking immediate feedback in large-scale engineering is very challenging. However, as the focus of the connected car businesses is shifting to creating engaging user experiences through software, there is an emerging need to focus on the customer, because it’s a key source of competitive advantage.”
